FÁS Quality Assurance Policy Approach
In recognition and support of the requirements of the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999, the FÁS Statement of Strategy 2006-2009 gives a clear commitment to:
...provide higher quality, more innovative and flexible services to customers… by embracing a culture of quality and service excellence, by providing Programmes and Services that are approved and accredited by the Awards Councils and by seeking customer feedback and continuous improvement.
Building on existing good practice, FÁS developed a Quality Assurance (QA) policy framework. This policy approach interprets and reflects HETAC and FETAC requirements in a FÁS context, builds in FÁS’ own QA requirements, and augments existing organisational quality assurance policies and practice. In this way, the approach is a process which builds on the FÁS quality ethos.
Ireland’s ability to sustain economic growth increasingly depends on the availability of relevant, flexible and accredited training programmes. In promoting training which is cost-effective, efficient and customer-focused, FÁS is committed to the use of quality Training Guidelines for all of its training programmes.
The establishment of qualification bodies allows for the official Certification, and also national and international recognition, of skills, knowledge and competencies achieved through training.
