Recognition of Qualifications

Making your Qualifications & Skills Understood

The National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) is the Irish centre for the recognition of international awards, known at Qualifications Recognition - Ireland. The NQAI website provides information on the recognition, in Ireland, of academic and professional qualifications from other countries worldwide.

The NQAI represents Ireland in a European Network of centres known as the European National Information Centre/National Academic Recognition Information Centre, or ENIC-NARIC, and as Ireland’s National Reference Point (NRP). These networks promote the recognition of international awards throughout Europe.

Europass is an initiative which helps people to make their skills and qualifications clearly and easily understood across Europe. The Europass documents are designed to help people to outline their skills and competences coherently, whether they are planning to enrol in education or training or to look for experience or a job abroad.

To make it easier for citizens of one Member State to work in another one, European Union Directives have been drawn up requiring Member States to issue a Certificate of Experience to a worker, as evidence of that worker’s experience, training and qualifications. See the Guidance Notes for applicants from the Republic of Ireland and a brief guide to the Jobs Covered by the Certificate.
