Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003 give members of the public legal rights to:

  • Access official records created since 21st April 1998;
  • Access records relating to you personally, whenever created;
  • Have personal information corrected or updated where such information is incomplete, incorrect or misleading;
  • Obtain information about the criteria used by Public Bodies in making decisions that affect an individual.


The Freedom of Information Section 15 Reference Manual provides a guide to the functions, structure and records of FÁS. A copy of the 2010 edition is available from the Freedom of Information Unit 

The Section 16 Manual is currently being updated and will be available again online as soon as possible. In the meantime, please contact the Freedom of Information Unit for assistance.
